ege’s M3 upgrade gets the red carpet treatment

ege is one of Europe’s leading companies when it comes to the design, development, and production of carpets. Upgrading from a very old version of Infor M3 to 13.4 could have floored many but not Thomas Bjerregaard, ege’s Test Manager:

A mix of Infor M3, heavily customized to provide integrations with multiple legacy systems presented no problem as the solutions from Original Software are technology-neutral and can run over almost any application whether client-based or in the cloud.

Their quality team comprises a mixture of IT and business users so it was great to see that both groups were flying with Quality Management after only two days of training.

This new approach represents a sea change for this company. Previously they had been using a mixture of shared excel sheets and documents to control the quality process but this had numerous flaws.

Communication with the external development company who create most of the enhancements and changes to functionality was a concern. No-one was sure what issues had been reported, their status, or whether they were simply duplicating issues that had already been reported. By giving the development team restricted access to Qualify they could see the logged defects in real-time and view the complete results.

“The fact that all identified issues are documented ā€on the flyā€ means we can report accurately to the solution provider without delaying the testing process.”

They particularly liked the Animation tool which creates a movie file showing exactly what the tester performed and saw. The developer can then see exactly what took place to cause the issue. It also produces editable documentation that can be used for training purposes.
