    As part of a wider digital transformation initiative, Fonua began preparing for a significant Infor M3 upgrade and migration towards Infor MT CloudSuite.

However, as the project progressed, the team quickly realised the scale of process complexity involved. The move to Infor MT introduced a new operational reality for the business: continuous updates, ongoing releases and a much higher volume of change.

We knew that keeping up with the regularity and coverage demands of testing in the cloud were something we had to have in place to ensure continuity for Fónua after the migration, and as part of ongoing business activities thereafter. With cloud updates coming faster than on-premise, while we have access to new features quicker, we also have to make sure all of our business systems and processes continue to function seamlessly, which is why we approached Original Software.

Once we got into the real detail with the supply chain team, the processes just started to spawn and grow legs.

What initially appeared to be relatively straightforward workflows rapidly expanded into thousands of test scenarios involving different customers, invoice formats, payment methods and operational exceptions.

The first phase focused on documenting and capturing critical business processes across the organisation.

Order to cash sounds pretty straightforward — and in a lot of cases it is — but when you find out different customers want different invoice formats or payment methods, it all starts to extrapolate out and become quite complex.

As the testing estate grew, automation became essential.

We needed an automation tool to generate a full result pack and point us in the direction of where we need to focus our attention.
